New Year’s Eve in Sturbridge

Sturbridge, MA

Day 1: Welcome Aboard!  Join us for a fun-filled get-away full of holiday cheer and yuletide spirit in central Massachusetts.  After checking into the Sturbridge Host Hotel for the next two nights, we are treated to a delicious dinner at the Publick House Restaurant, a historic Inn serving traditional New England fare.  Bring your bathing suit to take advantage of the hotel’s indoor pool.  (D)                

Day 2: After a buffet breakfast we depart for Vaillancourt Folk Art, one of America’s last remaining creators of Christmas collectibles, including Polish glass ornaments.  Their hand-painted, chalk ware Santa’s are created in limited additions from antique European Father Christmas chocolate molds.  Enjoy a guided tour of the museum, watch artists painting the figures and shop in the store.  After lunch on your own we will visit Sturbridge Village.  Walk through the serene grounds and explore this re-created 1830’s rural community with more than 40 restored buildings.  In addition to the buildings, highlights include costumed “Villagers”, heirloom plants and animals, daily special activities and events, the Museum Gift Shop and the New England Book Store.  Later we return to the hotel where you will have time to relax and freshen up before tonight’s gala celebration.  Tonight, we enjoy a New Year’s Eve Celebration complete with a delicious buffet dinner, appetizers to dessert are included, a live band and dancing, two cocktail tickets per person and a Midnight champagne toast!  Happy New Year 2012!  (B, D)          

Day 3: After a New Year’s Day brunch settle back and enjoy a holiday movie on our drive home, while reminiscing about your New Year’s get-away extravaganza filled with holiday cheer and music!  On the way home, we will stop at the Yankee Candle Company where there will be time for some last minute holiday shopping.  Happy Holidays!  (B)
