We celebrate the holiday season with a delicious
family style dinner at Carmine’s Restaurant, a legendary New York
City family style Italian restaurant now located in our nation’s capitol.
Following dinner we depart for a visit to the National Christmas Tree and the
Pathway of Peace (an outdoor event). In 1954, a “Pathway of Peace,”
was created with the planting of 56 smaller, decorated trees representing all 50
states, five territories, and the District of Columbia surrounding the National
Christmas Tree. Holiday music and dance will be performed by volunteer choirs
and dancers on the Ellipse, the grassy area south of the White House. We
conclude our holiday season celebration with a visit to the Symphony of
Lights, a drive through Christmas light display on the grounds of
Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. The Symphony of
Lights is a spectacular display of more than 75 animated and stationary holiday
lights. Note: The National Christmas Tree and the Pathway of Peace
requires walking outside. Please wear comfortable shoes, bring a flashlight and
dress according to the weather. Happy Holidays!
