Come warm your spirit when Landis Valley
Museum & Village comes alive with strolling villagers and unique
Pennsylvania German holiday traditions, decorations and food. In a 1800s tavern
demonstrations of open hearth holiday cooking will take place. A German Putz,
an upside-down tree, and cookies hung in the windows are just some of the many
holiday exhibits that will be on display in the historic buildings of the
village. Traditional food and beverage samples are included. Be
sure to watch for that scruffy character dressed in furs with bells - “der
Belsnickel”! Enjoy a traditional meal in the 1856 historic
Landis Valley House Hotel. Next we make the short drive to Intercourse,
Pennsylvania to the Kitchen Kettle Village. Explore over 40 local
shops in one outdoor shopping village which are filled with homemade Lancaster
County foods, fresh baked goods, tasty canned goods and other gift items and
souvenirs. At Kitchen Kettle Village you can immerse yourself in an authentic
Lancaster County experience! Before departing for home, we conclude our day at
the National Christmas Center. Take a self-guided tour
through the center and discover the whimsy and fantasy, the magic and memories,
and the history and traditions of Christmas. Happy Holidays!
