Ghosts, Witches & Gravestones
Coastal New England
Day 1:
Welcome Aboard! Are you ready for a chilling,
thrilling, and frightening ghostly tour that will keep you smiling throughout
your coastal New England weekend get-away? After checking into our hotel for
the night, you can relax and enjoy a leisurely dinner at the restaurant
located adjacent to the hotel. Later we begin our adventures into the world of
the unexplained with Nautical Nightmares at the Mystic Seaport Museum.
Some of the ghostly goings-on you will experience at Nautical Nightmares are
things that go bump in the night, eerie tales of local ghost, legends and
unsolved mysteries, and you will encounter spirits who will guide you through a
darkened village. But beware! The sounds you hear in the dark may be more than
just the spirits of the night!
Day 2:
After a hearty continental breakfast we
depart for Newport, Rhode Island, and the incredible Belcourt Castle.
Our tour guide recounts the rich history of this magnificent Louis XIII
Gilded Age style mansion, including it’s scandal, wealth and sightings of
resident spirits. Next you will have leisure time to explore and shop at the
seaside Brick Marketplace before we continue on to the Lizzie
Borden House. Relive the shocking and sensational 1892 murders of the
Borden family, as we tour this Victorian home turned into a Bed & Breakfast
Inn. We continue on to Concord, Massachusetts for a delicious buffet
dinner at a popular local restaurant. After dinner we meet our tour
guide and experience “Beyond Twilight,” a ghost walking tour.
Walk into the past, the unknown, and the paranormal as we are entertained by
compelling tales of Concord’s spirits, legends and lore. There is more lurking
in Concord’s past than minutemen and poets. Later we check into our suburban
Boston, Massachusetts hotel for the next two nights. (B, D)
Day 3:
After a hearty continental breakfast we
meet our step-on guide, and depart for a tour of Salem, Massachusetts.
We will learn about the witch hysteria that overtook Salem in the 17th
century. We will visit the Salem Witch Museum and relive the hysteria of
the famous 1692 Witch Trials. Next we attend a live performance of “Cry
Innocent.” You are the jury at the trial of Bridget Bishop, accused of
witchcraft. Hear the testimony, ask questions and you decide the verdict -
innocent, or guilty? Today the Village of Salem comes alive with the spirit
of Halloween in celebration of Salem’s Haunted Happenings. Enjoy the
fun-filled festivities which include haunted houses, psychic readers, live
entertainment, special museums events and delicious eateries. Lunch and dinner
is on your own at the festival grounds, followed by “Walk the
Terror Trail,” a spooky walking tour featuring tales of
local murders, spectral assaults and haunted houses! Later we return to our
hotel for a good night’s rest. (B)
Day 4:
After a hearty continental breakfast
settle back and enjoy a scary movie on our drive home, while conjuring up your
own haunting memories from your ghostly New England weekend get-away. (B)
