Today’s day trip features a triple-header
adventure across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to Dorchester and Talbot Counties.
We begin our day on the Eastern Shore, traveling along back country roads to the
home of the only Delmarva buffalo farm, SB Farms Buffalo Ranch. Learn
the history of this unique farm and enjoy watching the buffalo graze during a
wagon ride out into the Buffalo field. Next we depart for the inland town
of Denton. Upon our arrival enjoy a “down home” buffet lunch at
Hidden Acres Farm farmhouse. After lunch enjoy a carriage ride pulled
by majestic Clydesdale Horses! You can also wander around the farm to view
the other animals including donkeys, goats and other horses or stop in the farm
gift shop for a souvenir. During your visit, your hosts will relate tales of
farm life. Next we depart for Preston and the Outstanding Dreams Farm
where the owners raise Alpacas. Here we will learn about these
gentle animals, native to South America and related to llamas. You will be able
to pet and feed the alpacas in the field, and then go inside to hear their
stories of raising and breeding the animals and selling the fleece which has
been converted to hanks of yarn for scarves, sweaters and coats. Don’t forget
to visit the gift shop before departing for home.
