1000 Islands, Quebec City & Vermont

Day 1: Welcome Aboard!  Travel in comfort aboard our deluxe motor coach to the lush green landscape of New York state, and the spectacular and magical beauty of the Thousand Islands.  After checking into the Best Western Carriage House for the night, we are treated to a delicious dinner at the hotel.  The hotel is located in the heart of historic downtown Watertown, New York, and features an indoor heated swimming pool and fitness center, so bring your bathing suit.  (D)

Day 2: After a full breakfast we take a narrated sightseeing cruise of the Thousand Islands.  Relax and enjoy a 2 ¼ hour cruise, which includes a colorful historical tapestry of the river, the islands, and the magnificent homes that you’ll view on this special cruise.  As you travel along the narrow island passages, surrounded by the natural beauty of the islands, you’ll marvel at the majesty, diversity and originality of the island homes.  Your cruise will include a stop at historic Boldt Castle on Heart Island where you can enjoy a self-guided tour of the castle and its grounds.  Following our tour we depart for Quebec City, Canada, with its European flavor, French foods, language and fashion!  Upon arriving we check into the Hotel Chateau Laurier, located just outside the Old City Walls, for the next three nights.  Tonight, dinner and entertainment are served up in a quaint, French restaurant located in Old Quebec.  After dinner, (weather permitting), the Boardwalk comes alive with street performers, entertainment and artists for your enjoyment!  (B, D)

Day 3: After a full breakfast we meet our step-on guide, and depart for a day of sightseeing.  Experience the beauty and history of both Old and New Quebec on our tour while we view such landmarks as the “Place d’Armes,” the Parliament, Plains of Abraham and the Place Royale, the site of the original settlement of the city of Quebec.  After our tour, a delicious lunch is included at the stately “Chateau Frontenac,” followed by a guided tour explaining the hotel’s history.  This afternoon we will have some leisure time to explore Old Quebec and experience its culture while you browse its many quaint shops, boutiques, cafes and restaurants.  Later return to our hotel to sit back, relax and enjoy dinner on your own at your leisure in the hotel’s restaurant.  (B, L)

Day 4: After a full breakfast we meet our step-on guide, and depart for another day of sightseeing.  We begin with a photo-stop at Montmorency Falls where we will view the magnificent water falls.  Next we will visit the Shrine of Ste. Anne de Beaupre Basilica and its beautiful grounds.  Lunch is on your own at the Beaupre Coast.  Following lunch we will visit Musee de l’Abeille.  Discover the fascinating history of the relationship between man and bees!  It’s a brand-new exhibition that shows you how people from early times gathered and used honey, tamed bees, and how beekeeping techniques have developed through the ages.  Don’t forget to visit the gift shop.  Our next stop of the day is at Isle d’Orleans, a historical and culture attraction, located just outside Quebec City.  Step back in time on this island with its small villages and farms.  The agricultural products produced on the island provide Quebec City with much of it’s fresh vegetables, fruits, meats, cheeses and wines.  After returning to our hotel you will have time to sit, relax and enjoy dinner on your own at your leisure in the hotel’s restaurant.  (B)

Day 5: After a full breakfast we depart for Middlebury, Vermont.  Upon  arriving we will check into our overnight accommodations at the Middlebury Inn.  The Inn with its classic rockers on the canopied front porch is one of the loveliest historic Inns of Vermont.  We are treated to an afternoon tea and treats, followed by a walking tour of this charming Vermont village.  Tonight we will enjoy a delicious dinner and cooking demo at the Inn celebrating the end of a lovely tour.  (B, D)
