Celebrate “Independence Day” aboard
the Wilmington & Western Railroad enjoying a journey from Wilmington
to Hockessin, Delaware for July 4th Fireworks!
Take a trip back in time and experience what it was like to travel when steam
locomotives ruled the rails. History will come alive, senses will be excited,
and a forgotten era will be relived, and you just might have a little fun along
the way! From your seat on the vintage train, you’ll see the past as never
before. You will travel round trip in antique passenger coaches pulled by a
coal-burning steam locomotive or an early-generation diesel locomotive. Once we
arrive at the railway station in Hockessin we disembark and walk a short
distance to Swift Park where we will enjoy the July 4th
Fireworks over the night sky. Before the train ride, a delicious buffet
dinner is included.
Note: This is not a reserved seating event. You are
required to bring your own blankets or folding lawn chairs. We will provide you
with a luggage tag for your chairs. The lawn chairs will be stored on board the
train. The fireworks display is open lawn seating. Please wear comfortable
walking shoes! This tour is not suitable for people who have trouble with
mobility!
