Come aboard the “Steven Thomas” and
chart a course back in time to a small, picturesque island in the Chesapeake Bay
where history and charm converge. Tangier Island has a permanent
population of about 600 people, most of whom speak with an Elizabethan accent
and enjoy a unique way of life. As the boat makes the 12-mile trip out to
the island, see some of the most beautiful scenery the Chesapeake Bay and
Tangier Sound have to offer including the chain of islands that form the Tangier
Sound, the waterfowl that inhabit the bay and learn the history of a few of the
other islands of the bay - Fox’s Island, Watts Island, and Port Isabel. A local
tour guide will greet us upon arriving at the island, and will escort us down to
the famous “Hilda Crockett’s Chesapeake House” where we will enjoy a
delicious family style luncheon. After lunch enjoy a leisurely stroll
around the island, or simply stop by a gift shop and pick up something to
remember your trip before we cruise back to the mainland. Fast food stops will
be made both en route to Crisfield and on the return trip home.
