Root’s, Shady Maple & Shoe House

Today’s day trip features a special triple-header adventure consisting of 3 unique local places that are fun, affordable, and all within a short drive from home!  First we will visit Root’s Country Market, home of the oldest single family run country market in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.  Root’s Market offers a wide variety of local produce, fresh meats, a deli, bakery items, flowers, handmade crafts, antiques, collectibles and household items from over 200 vendors.  Bring along a cooler and take home some Pennsylvania Dutch delicacies.  Our next stop serves up a delicious smorgasbord lunch along with some country shopping at a mega gift shop.  Shady Maple Gift Shop has over 20,000 square feet of unique gift items, collectibles, dolls, Fenton Glassware, accessories, Amish crafted oak furniture, baskets, and the list goes on.  Before departing for home, we conclude our day at Haines Shoe House.  Tour this unique “shoe-shaped” building which was a popular honeymoon spot in the 1950’s, and enjoy a root beer float dessert.
