A “I Love Lucy” Tour
New York State
Day 1:
Welcome Aboard! Travel in comfort aboard our
deluxe motor coach through the scenic landscape of upstate New York to
Dunkirk, New York. Our accommodations for the next three nights are
at the Clarion Hotel, offering wonderful views overlooking Lake Erie.
The hotel has an indoor and outdoor pool, fitness center and spa, so bring your
bathing suit. Tonight we are treated to a delicious dinner, followed by
a special evening of entertainment provided by “Lucille Ball” and
guests. (D)
Day 2:
After a buffet breakfast we have some fun
with the “Lucy Games”. Make yourself “red,” pack “candy” in boxes,
“stomp” the grapes and bottle up “vitamins” and try to win Prizes as you
recreate scenes from Lucy’s TV show! Later we depart for Lucy’s hometown of
Jamestown, New York to tour the Desilu Playhouse. The Playhouse
features authentically reproduced television studio sets. See Lucy’s New York
apartment and the Hollywood hotel where Lucy and Ricky stayed. Next door you
can explore the Lucy & Desi Museum where you will find 8 galleries, 7
screening areas, and great displays of Lucy’s and Desi’s personal belongings
including Lucy’s Mercedes. Don’t forget to visit the Lucy Gift Shop.
Next we depart for a narrated driving tour of “Lucy’s Hometown” passing
the Lucille Ball Little Theatre, Lucy’s school, see her Jamestown and Celoron
homes, and learn about her childhood days. Following our tour, we spend a
leisurely afternoon aboard the cruise liner, the “Summer Wind” for a
delicious buffet luncheon. Later we return to the hotel where you will
have time to sit, relax and freshen up before enjoying dinner and
entertainment at the hotel. (B, L, D)
Day 3:
After a buffet breakfast we depart for
another day of sightseeing. We start our day at Valvo’s Candy Factory
where two people will be selected to recreate the scene of Lucy and Ethel as
line workers from the candy factory episode. Be sure to visit the gift shop
which has wonderful unique gifts and 250 plus varieties of candy. Next enjoy a
driving tour of historic Fredonia. In an afternoon filled with “mystery”
and “murder,” use your detective skills to solve the two mysterious deaths that
have taken place. New clues will be revealed at each stop we make to help you
solve the case. We begin at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House, a magnificent
theatre with a rich history that is the source of many amazing facts and tales.
Lunch is on your own. After lunch we visit the Woodbury
Vineyards for a winery tour, followed by a tasting. Next we visit the
Barker Historical Museum. Tour the museum and learn more about the murders
from Mrs. Barker. We return to the hotel where you can choose to sit, relax and
experience the comforts of the Clarion Hotel. Tonight we are treated to a
progressive country connoisseur dinner. The main course is served at The
White Inn and the murder mystery is solved and prizes are awarded to the
winners. The day concludes with a wine tasting, followed by dessert and
champagne at Merritt Estate Winery. (B, D)
Day 4:
After a buffet breakfast we depart for
home. We wrap up our fun upstate New York get-away enjoying it’s rich history,
beautiful landscape, and take with us smiling faces and a renewed appreciation
of the special magic that continues to make everyone say, “I Love Lucy”.
