Day 1:
Welcome Aboard! Travel in comfort aboard our
deluxe motor coach to Savannah, Georgia, “the Belle of Georgia”. We
overnight in Santee, South Carolina. Dinner is on your own.
There is a Cracker Barrel restaurant conveniently located within walking
distance of the hotel.
Day 2:
After a deluxe continental breakfast we
depart for Savannah, Georgia. Upon our arrival we will tour the
Savannah History Museum. To provide you with the best possible tour
experience we will view the film presentation “Savannah the Survivor,”
in the museum’s plush theatre. Next walk through Savannah’s history from
1733 to the present day on a self-guided tour. See Forrest Gump’s
Bench, historic fashions from bygone days, vehicles that rumbled down the port
city’s streets decades ago, and much more! Later we will meet our step-on
guide, and depart for a tour of historic Savannah. Included on our
tour is a visit to the Owens-Thomas Historic House Museum. Following
lunch on your own we depart for one of the most exciting museums
in the southeast, the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum. This museum has it
all from vintage aircraft, photographs and artifacts, to a thrilling “Mission
Experience” and personal oral histories! Before checking into the Hampton
Inn & Suites, located in Midtown Savannah, for the next two nights,
we conclude our day with a delicious dinner at a Savannah institution,
Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room. (B, D)
Day 3:
After a buffet breakfast we depart for
Jekyll Island. Upon our arrival we will board a sightseeing tram for a
captivating and history filled tour of the island. See where and how some
of the nation’s wealthiest citizens, like J.P. Morgan and William Rockefeller
lived and played. A delicious lunch is included at the Jekyll Island
Club Hotel. Later we will take a guided tour of St. Simons Island
where we will view the famous moss covered oaks while being entertained by
delightful stories of these barrier islands. After returning to our hotel in
Savannah you will have time to sit, relax and enjoy dinner on your own
at a restaurant conveniently located within walking distance of the hotel.

Day 4:
After a buffet breakfast we depart for
Charleston, South Carolina. See for yourself why Charleston has been deemed
the “charm spot of the south.” Upon our arrival we will meet our step-on
guide, and depart for a day of sightseeing. Included on our tour is
a visit to Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum, the world’s largest
naval and maritime museum. Highlights of the naval and maritime museum include
access to the USS Yorktown Aircraft Carrier, the famous fighting lady of
World War II; the submarine, Clamagore, one of the Navy’s last diesel
powered submarines; the Vietnam Era Naval Support Base, and the
Congressional Medal of Honor Museum. You will be treated to lunch on
board the Yorktown in the Chief Petty Officer’s Galley. After lunch we
take a boat cruise to Fort Sumter, the island fort where the Civil War
began. Before checking into our hotel for the next two nights, we
conclude our day with a delicious dinner at the Charleston Crab House.

Day 5:
After a deluxe continental breakfast we
depart for Magnolia Plantation & Gardens, recognized as one of
America’s finest and most beautifully maintained plantations. To provide you
with the best possible tour experience we will view a 22-minute introductory
film on the plantation and gardens, and be given a narrated tram tour of
the various gardens. We return to Charleston for lunch on your own.
After lunch you may choose to explore the Old City Market where more than
100 vendors sell everything from local foods to souvenirs. Next we board
horse drawn carriages that allow a close-up view of the beautiful homes
along the Battery Area of Charleston. Later we will return to our hotel where
you will have some time to sit, relax and freshen up before going out for a
delicious dinner at Hyman’s Seafood Restaurant. (B, D)
Day 6:
After a deluxe continental breakfast we
depart for home taking with us a new appreciation of southern hospitality and
history. (B)
