American Treasure Tour
& Lunch at Chadwick’s
Oaks, PA
Today we travel to Oaks, Pennsylvania to
visit the American Treasure Tour, and discover an amazing collection of
treasures spanning the Nineteenth and Twentieth centuries. This is not a museum
tour! With tens of thousands of items to view over three acres, this
90-minute guided tram tour is sure to be a treat for both the eyes and
ears! We begin our adventure at The Nickelodeon Room. The room is
filled with an incredible assembly of priceless Nickelodeons, photo players,
steel disk boxes, and steel roll music boxes. Also housed in the Nickelodeon
Room is the Valley Forge Piano Roll Company, which includes a custom-built
laser-cutter, able to reproduce paper rolls for any music machine. Next we
visit The Toy & Kaliope Annex. Imagine yourself strolling down an old
fashion Main Street, gazing into storefronts enjoying thousands of world-class,
animated store displays from bygone eras. Or, reminisce about the “Big Top” as
the sounds of the circus fills the room when played on giant band organs. Fully
functional, these impressive original band organs from the turn-of-the-century
are a spectacular sight to be seen and heard. We conclude our tour visiting
The Vintage Car Collection. This portion of the tour excites the car-lover
in everyone. An impressive collection of over 75 completely unrestored vehicles
provides visitors with a unique opportunity to see them in their original,
as-found condition. The car collection spans the decades, and includes cars
that range from a 1902 Sears & Roebuck catalogue car, to the classic Big Fin
1960 Cadillac convertible. After lunch at Chadwick’s Restaurant
we meet our step-on guide for a tour of the Valley Forge National
Historical Park. Rows of cannons, clusters of soldiers’ huts, monuments and
statues of Revolutionary War heroes offer magnificent opportunities for
photography.
