Day 1:
Welcome Aboard! Travel in comfort aboard our
deluxe motor coach to “The Volunteer State,” Tennessee. We overnight in
Knoxville, Tennessee. A dinner stop will be made en route to
Knoxville, included. (D)
Day 2:
After a deluxe continental breakfast we
depart for Nashville, Tennessee for a day of sightseeing. We
begin at The Hermitage, the estate of Andrew Jackson, our seventh U.S.
President and the hero of the Battle of New Orleans. To provide you with the
best possible tour experience we will view a 15-minute introductory film
at the Andrew Jackson Visitor Center. Next step inside the Hermitage mansion
and see how this 1837 mansion has been beautifully restored to its original
splendor by some of the nation’s best craftsman and artisans. Enjoy discovering
the treasures found in the first floor rooms of the Hermitage. Costumed
historical interpreters will be stationed throughout the mansion. You will also
have access to the estate’s grounds. Plan to spend some time strolling through
the gardens and exploring the grounds which include the Jackson Family Cemetery
and sites related to slavery, farming and nature at the Hermitage. Later we
check into the world famous Opryland Hotel, the ultimate in southern
hospitality, for the next two nights. Dinner is on your own.
For your convenience, there are several restaurants located within the Opryland
Hotel. Finally, we end the day on a musical note by attending a performance at
the Grand Ole Opry. (B)
Day 3:
After a buffet breakfast we depart for
another day of sightseeing. We begin at the Grand Ole Opry where
we will learn the fascinating story of the Opry with a backstage tour of the
Grand Ole Opry House. You’ll get a rare glimpse at what happens behind the
scenes of the show that made American country music famous. You can also spend
some time on your own strolling through the halls filled with Opry
memorabilia. Next we board the grandest showboat of them all, the General
Jackson Showboat. Enjoy a delicious family style luncheon cruise
that includes a delightful musical stage performance. Our next stop will
be a tour of the Grand Ole Opry Museum. Enjoy a colorful tour of country
music history through memorabilia from some of the Opry’s biggest stars, past
and present. Later we return to the hotel where you can choose to sit, relax
and experience the comforts of this fabulous hotel for the rest of the day.
Dinner is on your own. For your convenience, there are several
restaurants located within the Opryland Hotel. (B, L)
Day 4:
After a buffet breakfast we depart for
Sweetwater, Tennessee and The Lost Sea Adventure, America’s Largest
Underground Lake! Upon our arrival, your Lost Sea adventure begins with
a guided tour of the caverns. This involves a ¾ mile round trip walk on
wide sloping pathways. While touring the caverns and underground lake, your
guides will detail the cavern’s exciting, colorful history, and will explain the
fascinating geological development that created the immense cavern rooms and
rare formations. At the bottom of the cave you will board a glass-bottom
boat for an exciting trip on the Lost Sea. The boat ride offers you the
chance to view the large collection of rare anthodites, more commonly known as
“Cave Flowers”. After our tour we depart for our hotel accommodations in
Wytheville, Virginia. A dinner stop will be made en route to
Wytheville, included. (B, D)
Day 5:
After a deluxe continental breakfast
settle back for a relaxing hand-clappin’, toe-tappin’, good time ride home.
