December 3-5 (Friday-Sunday)

100 Miles of Christmas Lights
from
Williamsburg to Virginia Beach, VA

Day 1: Welcome Aboard! Illuminate your spirits for the holidays and experience the magic of millions of sparkling lights stretching from Williamsburg to Virginia Beach. Today we visit the nation’s largest and oldest outdoor living museum, Colonial Williamsburg. Step into the past and join in the creation of a new nation. Enjoy being swept up in the daily life of a busy 18th-century city as we are greeted by shopkeepers, slaves, and outspoken patriots. Visit the original and restored homes, public buildings and shops, and stroll the more than 90-acres of landscaped gardens and courtyards. Your General Admission Pass provides full access to historic exhibition buildings, including the Governor’s Palace, Capital, Museums and The Revolutionary City. After a delicious dinner at the Whaling Company we continue on to Newport News, Virginia and enjoy a ride through Celebration in Lights featuring a dazzling kaleidoscope of color created by 650,000 lights. Later we arrive at our oceanfront accommodations at the Best Western Oceanfront Virginia Beach, which has private balconies with stunning views of the beautiful Atlantic Ocean, for the next two nights.

Day 2: After a buffet breakfast we depart for the Norfolk Naval Station, the world’s largest naval installation. Upon our arrival at the Norfolk Naval Tour and Information Center, we meet our active duty Navy guide and depart on a narrated driving tour of the naval base. After our tour we are off to see one of Norfolk’s historic homes which is decorated in period fashion for the holidays. The Hunter House Victorian Museum is rich in architectural detail, and displays the Hunter family’s collection of furnishings and decorated pieces in a Victorian Christmas setting. Next you will have some leisure time to shop and have lunch on your own at MacArthur Center before we attend the musical “A Christmas Carol”, Dickens timeless story of Ebenezer Scrooge and his encounters with the ghosts of the Christmas past, present and future. We will enjoy a delicious dinner at Freemason Abbey Restaurant & Tavern and a “stroll” down the boardwalk aboard our deluxe motor coach viewing three miles of dazzling Holiday Lights at the Beach before returning to our hotel for a good night’s rest.

Day 3: Start the day with a buffet breakfast at your leisure. With part of the morning free you may wish to go for a walk on the boardwalk or beach, or simply choose to sit, relax, and experience the comforts of your oceanfront hotel from your private balcony. Later we cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, the 17-mile link on U.S. Rt. 13, which links the Delmarva Peninsula with southeastern Virginia. We’ll make a photo-stop at the scenic overlook with its breathtaking views of the mighty surge of the Atlantic Ocean, the beauty of the Chesapeake Bay, and the soaring grace of an engineering marvel. We return home with many pleasant memories of a Colonial Christmas and yuletide lights. Happy Holidays!
