Today we travel along scenic highways en route to historic
New Market, Virginia. Upon our arrival we will enjoy a delicious buffet
lunch and entertainment at the Johnny Appleseed Restaurant.
Following lunch, we depart for the world-famous Luray Caverns. We will
stroll along the well-lighted, paved walkways that wind through the huge
chambers to explore cathedral-sized rooms with soaring ceilings, towering
columns, breathtaking stalactites, and gaze into mirror-perfect pools. Our
knowledgeable guide will enrich your experience with stories about the caverns’
discovery, and the science behind the natural wonders being viewed. The caverns
has the world’s only “Stalacpipe” Organ that plays its hauntingly beautiful
music on natural formations. We conclude our day in the Shenandoah Valley with a
leisurely drive along the famous Skyline Drive of Virginia. Skyline Drive
offers travelers the opportunity to view many of the most scenic vistas in the
eastern United States. Also, keep your cameras ready because Skyline Driveis an excellent place to view the plentiful and diverse wildlife of the
Shenandoah Valley. A rest stop will be made on the return trip home. Note:
Luray Caverns does not have an elevator. Please wear comfortable shoes (no
heels).
