Trapp Family Lodge
Stowe, VT

Day 1: Welcome Aboard! Travel in comfort aboard our deluxe motor coach to the resort town of Stowe, Vermont. We invite you to relax in the finest of European-style accommodations, with spectacular mountain views, for the next three nights at the Trapp Family Lodge, owned by the family that inspired “The Sound of Music”. This evening feast on a 3-course, off the menu, dinner in the main dining room.

Day 2: After a full breakfast we meet our step-on guide, and depart for a day of sightseeing in the “Green Mountain State.” We begin at the Cabot Creamery where we will view award-winning cheeses being made, learn about cheese making, and hear about Cabot’s history. Following the tour, you’re invited to nibble on some cheese samples, including their celebrated cheddar. After lunch on your own we visit Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory where we will view a “moo-vie” about the company’s history. The tour continues at a glassed-in mezzanine which overlooks the production room floor. From our bird’s eye view we will see the production of Ben & Jerry’s famous ice cream while listening to an explanation of the ice cream manufacturing process. Then it’s off to the “Flavoroom” to indulge in a sample tasting of the flavor of the day! Our final stop will be at the Cold Hollow Cider Mill where we will enjoy the taste of fresh apple cider during an entertaining and informative talk on how cider is produced. After our tour enjoy some free time to browse, shop, or sample some of the many goodies found at the country store. After returning to the lodge you will have some time to sit, relax and freshen up before enjoying a fine 3-course, off the menu, dinner in the main dining room.

Day 3: After a full breakfast we meet with the resident expert on the Trapp Family history, for a Trapp History Tour. An informative talk about the lodge and property is included. We will learn about the Trapp Family members, where they are today, and what they are doing. We continue with the Trapp Maple Syrup Tour, and learn how they produce their own maple syrup on the estate. We conclude with the Trapp Garden Walking Tour. Learn about the Trapp Family gardens and greenhouses. Transportation will be provided to Stowe Village for shopping in this picturesque village with its, “most photographed church steeple”, and award winning recreation path. Today we are served afternoon tea and cookies, followed by a screening of the documentary “The Real Maria” at the lodge.
