As the rooster crows to announce the start of a new day, the
Green Dragon Market comes alive every Friday morning in the little
country town of Ephrata, Pennsylvania in Lancaster County. The Green
Dragon Market features over 400 local growers, merchants and craftsmen so it is
no surprise that thousands of area shoppers have visited this local attraction
weekly since 1932 to do their shopping. Located on a thirty acre site in the
heart of the Pennsylvania Dutch Country, the market is now one of the largest
Farmers Markets in the area, and offers visitors the choice of shopping indoors
or outdoors. With 7 large market buildings and many other small shops, the Green
Dragon merchants offer everything from “soup to nuts”. There is a local saying,
“if you can’t buy it at the Green Dragon, it chust ain’t for sale”. There will
be no rest stops made both en route to the Green Dragon Market, or on the return
trip home.
