Your Washington, D.C. day trip begins with a visit to the
National Museum of the American Indian. Thousands of years of Native
American and natural history are recreated through imaginative life-size
exhibits, dramatic films and live demonstrations of traditional culture at the
museum. A seafood buffet lunch is included at Phillips Flagship
Restaurant, a popular Washington, D.C. restaurant overlooking the Washington
Channel on the Southwest waterfront. Before departing for home, we conclude our
day with a visit to the National World War II Memorial. Located between
the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial, the memorial honors the 16 million
who served during WWII and those who supported the war effort from home. The
memorial features two 43-foot arches, a 17-foot pillar for each state and
territory from that period, and a field of 4,000 gold stars honoring the more
than 400,000 who died while defending freedom and serving our nation. A series
of bronze sculpture panels depict Americas at war, at home and overseas during
WWII.
