With a day visit to New Orleans

The Gulf Coast of Mississippi has been restored following Hurricane Katrina, and is waiting to welcome you to its lively casino hotels. Try your luck at the games of chance, then head west to New Orleans to see the rebirth and rebuilding taking place there, tour the French Quarter, visit the Garden District, or stroll the Riverwalk. Relax and enjoy a delicious dinner in the French Quarter at a popular local eatery. Biloxi & New Orleans are back! How about you?

Day 1: Welcome Aboard! Travel in comfort aboard our deluxe motor coach to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. We overnight in Greenville, South Carolina. Dinner is on your own. There is a Cracker Barrel restaurant which is conveniently located within walking distance of the hotel.

Day 2: After a deluxe continental breakfast we depart for Biloxi, Mississippi, the exciting “Playground of the South.” Our accommodations for the next four nights are at the Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino, located on the Back Bay of Biloxi. Tonight enjoy a delicious buffet dinner, plus the excitement of all of the best table games, and over 1,900 slot machines. Good Luck!

Day 3: After a buffet breakfast we meet our step-on guide, and depart for a narrated driving tour of Biloxi. Among the many sites we will visit is the Hurricane Katrina Memorial built in Biloxi’s Town Green. Opened on February 15, 2006 in a ceremony with ABC’s Extreme Makeover” crew, the memorial is dedicated to the gulf coast victims who perished in Hurricane Katrina. Next we tour St. Michaels Church, and see the storm devastation and the plans for reconstruction of this historic property. After our tour enjoy a delicious lunch at McElroy’s Harbor House, followed by a guided tour of Beauvoir, The Jefferson Davis Home and Presidential Library. Jefferson Finis Davis was an American politician who served as President of the Confederate States of American for its entire history, 1861 to 1865, during the American Civil War. After returning to our casino hotel you will have leisure time to sit, relax and enjoy dinner on your own at the hotel’s restaurant at your leisure.

Day 4: After a buffet breakfast we depart for New Orleans. Upon our arrival we will meet our step-on guide for our “Hurricane Katrina Tour.” First we will learn about the history of the original city and the world famous French Quarter. The tour will take us past a levee that “breached”, and we will see the resulting devastation that displaced hundreds of thousands of New Orleans residents. We will travel through neighborhoods such as Lakeview, Gentilly, New Orleans East, and the lower Ninth Ward. We will also ride past the colorful homes of “Musicians’ Village” being constructed by Habitat for Humanity in the upper Ninth Ward. In the afternoon you will have leisure time to explore this unique and fascinating city on your own. We conclude our day with a delicious dinner served up in the French Quarter at The New Orleans School of Cooking, before departing for Biloxi.

Day 5: Enjoy a buffet breakfast at your leisure for the entire day is yours to do as you wish. Today will be your last chance to test your luck, roll the dice, and enjoy the thrill of winning at the myriad of gaming choices at the casino. Tonight enjoy a delicious buffet dinner at your leisure. Good Luck!

Day 6: After a buffet breakfast we depart for our overnight stay in Greenville, South Carolina. Dinner is on your own. There is a Cracker Barrel restaurant which is conveniently located within walking distance of the hotel.

Day 7: After a deluxe continental breakfast we depart for home taking with us sunny memories of a magnificent Gulf Coast vacation!
