Hickory Bridge Farm & Gettysburg Train Ride

Orrtanna & Gettysburg, PA

Today we visit two special shops at Hickory Bridge Farm.  At the farm’s restaurant there is a lovely gift shop that features a variety of cards, candles, and plush animals.  A delicious family style luncheon (baked ham and roast turkey), is included at the restaurant.  Located directly behind the restaurant, is The Country Store, a wonderful museum of store items from the past.  The store offers products made in their own kitchen and a selection of old fashioned candies.  Board the Pioneer Lines Scenic Railway for a 16-mile scenic train ride in the afternoon.  The relaxing train trip will briefly pass the sight of the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg, and travel north to the town of Biglerville, Pennsylvania, known as the Apple Capital of the USA.  The train’s conductor will provide narration along the route that will include Civil War and Adams County history.
