Welcome to the Hawaiian Islands!

Each Hawaiian Island is in itself a memorable new chapter in a page-turning tale.  Black sand beaches, plunging waterfalls and orchid-draped rain forests unleash the sense of wonder in you.  Local flavors, from kiawe-grilled ahi to macadamia nut pancakes, whet your appetite.  Ancient artistry, myths and music inspire you as the story of your own journey is lived.

Hilo, Hawaii

This is the flowery side of the Big Island, and is vividly painted with the glossy red anthuriums and wild orchids in a wide spectrum of brilliant colors.  You can choose to view the flowers up close at Nani Mau Gardens, 53 acres of world-class botanical gardens, or head for Volcanoes National Park to view the molten lava floes of Kilauea, home of Pele, the hot-headed goddess of fire.

Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii

It’s the epicenter of classic Hawaiian allure with plantations and Polynesian Culture Center, Diamond Head and Paradise Cove luau, Waikiki Beach, the International Marketplace with the Banyan Tree Restaurant, (my favorite), and Hanauma Bay for snorkeling or just standing in crystal clear water and enjoying the beautiful fish.  A must see is the WW II Arizona Memorial.  If you’re a golfer, there are beautiful courses on all the islands.  The North Shore offers wonderful sandy beaches along with a coastline of unsurpassed natural beauty.

Nawiliwili, Kauai, Hawaii

Kauai is the island native Hawaiians visit.  Kauai is a circle of steeply rumpled green velvet, known for it’s primeval splendor, the 3,600 foot drop of Waimea Canyon, the romantic fern grotto, and the massive profile of the Na Pali coast which can only be experienced by foot-trail, helicopter or viewed from the decks of your Holland America cruise ship as we cruise by after we visit.

Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii

Once the center of the notorious Yankee Pacific Whaling Fleet, today Lahaina’s historic grog shops and ship chandleries house island boutiques, galleries, and restaurants.  Other Maui adventures await you like a whale watching safari, Haloeakala crater and the heavenly road to Hana.  The best beach on Maui is the Ka’Anapali beach just outside of Lahaina.

Kona, Hawaii

Once the playground for Hawaii’s royalty, today the Kona coast is still a nice place to kick back and relax.  Have you watched giant green turtles snooze on a warm black sand beach?  Have you tasted Kona coffee?  Have you watched Hawaiian cowboys (paniolos) ride and rope?  Today might be the day?  Tonight we have an evening passing of Kilauea Volcano
