Day 1:
Welcome Aboard! New Brunswick, Nova
Scotia, and Prince Edward Island combine to offer a coastal
holiday filled with charm and serenity. Plus, you’ll enjoy a marvelous two
night stay at two of Canada’s most treasured hotels, the Lord Nelson Hotel
and the Rodd Charlottetown. We overnight in South Portland, Maine,
complete with a welcome reception, followed by a delicious
buffet dinner.
Day 2:
After a buffet breakfast we depart for
St. John, the largest city in New Brunswick. Upon arrival, we visit
the Reversing Falls, a scenic natural phenomenon where the water reverses
direction and flows uphill through a rocky gorge. Enjoy a delicious dinner
at The Falls Restaurant before checking into our hotel for the
night.
Day 3:
After a continental breakfast we meet our
step-on guide, and depart for a narrated driving tour of St. John
which is located on the scenic Bay of Fundy. The tour will include historic
sites, and the City Market commerce area. Later we depart for Halifax,
the beautiful capital of Nova Scotia. We arrive at one of the most
picturesque spots in all of Nova Scotia, beautiful Peggy’s Cove, a
fishing village on the eastern seaboard that has a photogenic lighthouse atop
the wave-washed rocks. Bring your camera for some photo opportunities. Before
heading on to Halifax, we are treated to a delicious dinner at a
popular local eatery at Peggy’s Cove. We check into the 4-star
Lord Nelson Hotel which is located across the street from the
Victorian-style Halifax Public Gardens, for the next two nights.
Day 4:
After a buffet breakfast we meet our
step-on guide, and depart for a narrated driving tour of Halifax,
highlighting the Public Gardens, Halifax waterfront, and historic downtown.
Included in this tour is a visit to the Titanic gravesite where you will
learn about the important role Halifax played in the rescue of the survivors
during this tragic event. Later we tour the historic Citadel, Nova
Scotia’s 19th century fort perched high on a hill overlooking Halifax Harbor.
After your tour, the afternoon is at your leisure to explore this lovely city.
Day 5:
After a buffet breakfast we depart for
Caribou, and enjoy a ferry ride to the land known as the
“island cradled in the waves,” Prince Edward Island. We arrive at our
luxurious home for the next two nights, the Rodd Charlottetown
which is located in the heart of downtown, and is within easy walking distance
of the shopping district. This evening we are treated to a delicious dinner
at our hotel.
Day 6:
After breakfast we meet our step-on
guide, and depart for a tour of Prince Edward Island, Canada’s
smallest province. Today you will visit the Anne of Green Gables Museum,
the house in which Lucy Maud Montgomery lived, and upon which she based her
acclaimed book, “Anne of Green Gables.” Later we head to the picturesque
beaches of Cavendish National Park, and visit a wharf in Rustico
famous for its fishing boats and lobster traps. This afternoon, you will have
some time in downtown Charlottetown to explore the Main Street shops and
restaurants, or relax at your lovely hotel.
Day 7:
After breakfast we cross the
Confederation Bridge, the longest span bridge in the Western Hemisphere that
links this gorgeous land to the United States. We overnight in South
Portland, Maine, and are treated to a welcome reception, followed by
a traditional lobster or prime rib dinner.
Day 8:
After a buffet breakfast we depart for
home with many pleasant memories of your outstanding maritime holiday.
