July 14-17 (Monday-Thursday)
Rails & Sails of New Hampshire
Waterville Valley, NH
Day 1:
Welcome Aboard! Today we journey through
spectacular scenery on our way to the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
We arrive at our rustic Country Inn, the Snowy Owl Inn which is located
in the center of Waterville Valley Resort, with comfortable living and sitting
areas, for three nights. Bring your bathing suit. The Inn has spas and
saunas, and indoor and outdoor heated pools. Included upon arrival at the Inn,
enjoy a welcome reception, followed by a delicious dinner.
Day 2:
After a hearty continental breakfast we
meet our step-on guide, and depart for the M/S Mount Washington
for a narrated cruise on Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire’s largest lake.
You will have some time to explore Wolfeboro Village, a picturesque New
England community, and browse its many specialty shops and restaurants before
we continue onto Moultonborough. We arrive at Castle in the Clouds
for a self-guided tour of this Mansion, that captures the natural splendor
of New Hampshire’s Ossipee Mountains and looks down on Lake Winnipesaukee. This
evening, we board the Lake Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad for a delicious
roast turkey dinner. This relaxing train trip travels along the
shores of the lake, with views of the summer cottages, and this beautiful
sparkling lake.
Day 3:
After a hearty continental breakfast we
meet our step-on guide, and depart for the Loon Mountain Gondola.
We’ll ride New Hampshire’s longest sky ride to the summit for a spectacular
panoramic view! Along the way to Bretton Woods, our guide will offer a
narrated tour through the White Mountains from Franconia Notch to Mount
Washington. We arrive at the Mount Washington Cog Railway and you’re
in for an unforgettable experience. You’ll enjoy magnificent scenery, marvel at
the excitement of real steam locomotives in action, and climb the tallest
mountain in the Northeast. It’s an experience like no other - simply one of the
world’s great railway adventures! This evening we are treated to a delicious
dinner at a restaurant where we enjoy some great local flavor before
