Day 1: Welcome Aboard!  Enjoy the breathtaking scenery along every turn of the highway to the resort town of Stowe, Vermont.  We invite you to relax in the finest of European-style accommodations with spectacular mountain views for the next three nights at the Trapp Family Lodge, owned by the family that inspired “The Sound of Music”.  This evening, feast on a 3-course, off the menu dinner in the main dining room.          

 

Day 2: After a full breakfast we meet our step-on guide and depart for the Shelburne Museum, “the best collection of Americana in New England”.  Known as a collection of collections, this museum showcases a complex of 39 historic buildings that are home to vast collections of fine and decorative art, paintings, and folk sculptures.  This afternoon we continue to Burlington and board the Spirit of Ethan Allen III scenic narrated cruise featuring spectacular views of Lake Champlain, and the surrounding Adirondack Mountains.  This evening, experience gracious hospitality when you enjoy a fine 3-course, off the menu dinner in the main dining room.    

 

Day 3: After a full breakfast we meet with Jonathan Pryor, the resident expert on the Trapp Family history, for a Trapp History Tour.  Enjoy a narrated walking tour of the lodge and property.  We will learn about the Trapp Family members, where they are today, and what they are doing.  We continue with the Trapp Maple Syrup Tour, and learn how they make their own maple syrup.  We conclude with the Trapp Garden Tour.  Learn about the Trapp Family gardens and greenhouses.  There will be transportation to Stowe Village for shopping in this picturesque village with its, “most photographed church steeple”, and award winning recreation path.  Today we are served afternoon tea and cookies, followed by a screening of the documentary “The Real Maria”.  This evening we are treated to a delicious 3-course, off the menu dinner in the main dining room.                    

 

Day 4: After a full breakfast we depart for home with charming memories of this luxurious lodge and the fresh Vermont air.
