Coastal Maine

Boothbay Harbor, Camden, Kennebunkport & Ogunquit

Day 1: Welcome Aboard!  Enjoy the breathtaking scenery along every turn of the highway to the resort town of Boothbay Harbor, the “boating capital of New England.”  We check into the Rocktide Inn, a waterfront hotel which is located on the East side of beautiful Boothbay Harbor.  The Inn is conveniently located within 100 feet of the famous Footbridge and is within easy walking distance of the center of town.  Enjoy a delicious dinner at your leisure at the hotel.

Day 2: After a buffet breakfast we “harbor hop” to the postcard town of Camden, the “windjammer tall ship capital of Maine.”  Upon arrival we meet our step-on guide for a narrated driving tour of Camden, which will include a photo-stop at the summit of Mount Battie with its breathtaking view of Penobscot Bay.  You will have free time to walk some of Camden’s stately tree lined streets and explore some of its historic homes, all while surrounded by the unique maritime atmosphere of a bygone era.    Later we return to Boothbay Harbor for a delightful harbor cruise.  The cruise takes us past beautiful summer homes, picturesque lighthouses, small islands, snug coves, and offers us the opportunity to view seals in their natural habitat on rock ledges.  We conclude our day with a traditional lobster or steak dinner before returning to the Inn for a good night’s rest.

Day 3: Enjoy a buffet breakfast at your leisure.  With part of the morning free you will have some time to stroll along the waterfront, and investigate alleyway shops, and visit colorful cafes.  Later in the morning we depart for Kennebunkport where we will meet our step-on guide for a narrated driving tour.  See the Sea Colonial Mansions, Maine’s rocky coast line, “Walker’s Point”, the Bush’s summer home, and take advantage of a photo-stop at the Wedding Cake House while on the tour.  Afterwards, enjoy exploring this beautiful coastal town with its galleries and shops before we continue on to Ogunquit, called the “beautiful place by the sea.”  After checking into our hotel, the Ogunquit River Plantation for the next two nights, we are treated to a delicious dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 4: After a hearty continental breakfast we depart for Perkins Cove.  Located on the rocky coast, this quaint town is filled with shops, galleries, eateries and also boasts spectacular views from the Marginal Way Ocean Walk.  In the afternoon we enjoy a harbor cruise which offers unsurpassed views of the coastal town of York and its elegant homes, the rocky coast, and the Nubble Lighthouse.  Later we return to the hotel to sit, relax, and freshen up before going out for a delicious dinner at an area ocean view restaurant.

Day 5: After a hearty continental breakfast we depart for home with memories of your coastal adventures, and the fresh New England air!
